I’m going to give this blogging thing a try. Lord help us.
I’m not 100% yet on what direction I want to take this. The only thing that I know for sure is that this little (soon-to-be) momma 100% overwhelmed. So, here we are. I guess this is an attempt to organize my thoughts and keep track of my rambling ideas.
The main source of my overwhelmed-ness: the sweet boy in my belly. Not so much him, but all of his STUFF. Like, do babies really need this many THINGS?! I feel like the answer is no. But everything you read and everyone you talk to says you NEED this and MUST HAVE that, plus 100 more things to go with it. Let me tell you. My little house ran out of space a loonnggg time ago. And yet the stuff keeps coming. Don’t get me wrong, I’m super appreciative of absolutely everything that we have been given. But man. When I was setting up the nursery, you know, before we had all the “stuff”, I thought “Dang, we have a lot of storage space in here. What are we going to use all of this for?” I was actually worried we had TOO MUCH storage space. What were we going to put in all of it!? HA! I was clearly delusional.
My mom, sister, and aunt hosted a shower for little man on Sunday, and we got SO. MUCH. STUFF. I’m glad, because I feel prepared (kinda), but it’s overwhelming trying to organize it and put it away. And while it does make me feel somewhat prepared, it also made me realize there is still a lot I don’t know. What’s the difference between Buttpaste, A+D, and Destin? Why do I need all three? DO I need all three?! And where does Aquaphor fit in with those? When exactly do I use this stuff, all the time? Every diaper or just if he’s irritated? And do I still need vaseline? *SOS* I’ll keep you posted.
Also, what the eff do I put in my diaper bag? Ya’ll, Pinterest is a blessing and a curse. There are more posts than I can read about what to pack, ranging from literally a few diapers and some wipes to everything but the kitchen sink. I want to be prepared but I’m not trying to lug around a 20 pound diaper bag, either. Same goes for what to pack to take to the hospital. Guess I’ll keep you posted there, too.
